Speech Pathologist

Hours: Full Time or Part Time

Payrate: $AUD 50-65/hr

Location: Hervey Bay, QLD

 

Role overview:

The Speech Pathologist will deliver high-quality evidence-based assessment and intervention services for individuals with communication, language, voice and swallowing difficulties. Services may be provided across children, adolescents, adults and older people, within clinic, home, school and community settings, including under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) environment. The role will involve collaborating with other allied health professionals (physio, OT, etc) working with families/care teams, and contributing to the growth of speech pathology services within the business.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of communication, language, voice and swallowing (dysphagia) for clients of all ages.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment/intervention plans.
  • Provide therapy (individual and group) according to client needs.
  • Provide training and education to families, carers, teachers and other support staff.
  • Collaborate with other allied health professionals, external providers and support networks.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation (reports, progress notes, records) and ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements (e.g., NDIS, professional body).
  • Participate in mobile outreach and community-based service delivery (home visits, schools, aged care).
  • Contribute to service development, business growth (e.g., by identifying referral sources, promoting services).
  • Engage in professional development, clinical supervision, maintain credentialing and stay up-to-date with evidence-based practice.

 

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
  • Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
  • Current Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Strong clinical skills in paediatric and/or adult speech & language therapy
  • Assessment and intervention experience (communication disorders, swallowing difficulties, speech delays)
  • Ability to develop individualised therapy plans and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
