About the Company
Founded in 2012 by two Stanford University professors, our client’s mission is to provide anyone, anywhere access to world-class learning. Today, the company is a leading global online learning platform serving millions of learners and thousands of institutions worldwide.
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Copywriter / Email Marketing Specialist to support the Degrees Marketing team during a parental leave coverage assignment.
This role is primarily focused on high-quality copywriting for structured, pre-defined marketing campaigns supporting online degree programs. The emphasis is on translating complex program messaging into clear, persuasive, learner-focused copy that supports consideration and enrollment over a longer decision-making cycle. The ideal candidate is a strong writer first - someone who can take a structured brief and independently produce compelling marketing copy with minimal direction. This is not a highly conceptual creative role; campaigns are largely pre-planned, and success depends on execution, clarity, and messaging quality.
Key Responsibilities
• Write clear, engaging, conversion-focused copy for email campaigns, landing pages, paid media, in-platform messaging, and other digital marketing assets
• Support email marketing campaigns including nurture journeys, promotional messaging, and learner communications
• Translate structured campaign briefs and product positioning (UVPs) into compelling marketing copy
• Simplify complex information such as degree programs, admissions requirements, affordability, and career outcomes into clear, persuasive messaging
• Ensure copy aligns with brand voice, compliance standards, and higher education messaging guidelines
• Collaborate with marketing managers and cross-functional teams to support campaign execution
• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Edit and proofread copy for grammar, clarity, accuracy, and consistency
• Support campaign updates and revisions based on stakeholder feedback
Required Qualifications
• 3–8 years of experience writing email marketing copy and lifecycle/nurture campaigns with a focus on conversion-driven messaging
• Must have prior experience writing for a longer decision-making cycle/ buyer journey for products/services (e.g., financial services, real estate, higher education, SaaS subscriptions, or similar)
• Must have experience with CRM/email tools such as Braze or Marketo ( Preferably Braze)
• Strong experience writing email campaigns and lifecycle/nurture messaging (subject lines, CTAs, conversion copy)
• Must be a strong writer first — someone who can take a structured brief and independently produce compelling marketing copy with minimal direction
• Ability to take structured briefs and independently produce polished, ready-to-use copy with minimal oversight
• Strong ability to translate product messaging into clear, persuasive marketing language
• Strong industry knowledge of long product cycles.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Experience to meet deadlines and deadlines independently, keep track, and follow-up as needed
• Comfortable working in a highly structured, execution-focused environment
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Bonus Qualifications
• Experience in higher education, edtech, online learning, or university marketing campaigns
• • Experience supporting lifecycle marketing or nurture campaign strategy
• Experience with A/B testing or performance-driven messaging optimization

Additional Information
• This role supports the Degrees Marketing team as parental leave coverage
• Campaigns are structured and pre-planned — strong execution and writing ability are key
• Strong copywriting ability is more important than deep CRM tool expertise
• Ideal candidates are self-sufficient writers who can execute quickly and independently
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume marketing environment
