Business Analyst (Data Operations & Forecasting) Remote

Location: Remote: US based (W-2)

Payrate: $56hr

Duration: 6-month contract (Potential for extension)

Hours: Full-time M-F

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Business Analyst to provide continuity for ongoing data science initiatives, forecasting, and reporting across multiple degree programs. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, fluent in SQL and Looker, and comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. You’ll manage intake and prioritization for data projects, build and validate forecasts, maintain data accuracy, and support key stakeholders across data science, marketing, and operations teams.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

Program & Project Operations

  • Manage quarterly intake and prioritization of data science (DS) projects using Google Sheets and Airtable.
  • Track project status, risks, and decisions; keep stakeholders aligned through weekly standups and updates.
  • Maintain organized documentation of priorities, assumptions, and data definitions.

Forecasting & Reporting

  • Own forecasting for new-student enrollments across degree programs (including Boulder).
  • Run R scripts and use historical pacing models to refine forecasts.
  • Validate monthly forecasts vs. actuals, reconcile to the EDW, and document key insights or variances.
  • Support ongoing dashboard updates and reporting using Looker and Google Sheets.

Data Quality & Validation

  • Lead monthly data checks to ensure accurate “source of truth” metrics across systems.
  • Identify and resolve data issues in partnership with Revenue and Data Engineering teams.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across reports and forecasts.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for DS-related questions.
  • Maintain fast response times (within one business day) and ensure timely follow-through on requests.
  • Communicate clearly with cross-functional partners to drive progress and clarity.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in data operations, analytics, or business analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills (joins, window functions, validation).
  • Advanced Google Sheets skills (data organization, formulas, lookups, and tracking).
  • Experience with Airtable
  • Experience with forecasting and reporting
  • Experience to lead monthly data checks to ensure accurate “source of truth” metrics across systems.
  • Experience to identify and resolve data issues in partnership with Revenue and Data Engineering team
  • Experience with Looker for dashboards and reporting.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with internal business stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Able to start quickly and “hit the ground running.”

 

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with R for running scripts and analyzing data trends.
  • Domain experience in Higher Education — understanding enrollment funnels, partner SIS counts vs. platform enrollments, and EDW master tables.
  • Knowledge of census dates, credit hours, and revenue recognition processes.

 

Key Outcomes

  • Accurate monthly and quarterly student forecasts.
  • Reliable data validation within one month of each cohort start.
  • On-time project delivery and quick issue resolution.
  • Well-documented data assumptions and consistent communication across teams.
