Quantitative Trader / Researcher / Algo Trader | Prediction Markets | New York, US on site | $150-$250K base plus high upside

What is the firm?

An early-stage quantitative trading firm in New York, initially focused on US sports prediction markets.

The team is building technology to systematically price and trade markets across prediction exchanges. Longer term, the ambition is to build a modern trading firm operating across prediction markets, futures and crypto.

What are they building?

The current focus is on:

  • Trading US sports prediction markets
  • Systematic and automated trading strategies
  • Market making
  • Connecting directly to multiple exchanges
  • Building fast, scalable trading infrastructure
  • Expanding across more markets and trading venues

Much of the technology is being built from scratch, meaning early hires will have genuine influence over how the platform and trading operation develop.

What type of people are they looking for?

They're looking for smart, technical builders rather than people who want to operate within a very narrow role.

The ideal person is:

  • Technically strong
  • Practical and commercially minded
  • Comfortable working within a small team
  • Interested in building things from scratch
  • Happy taking responsibility early
  • More excited by helping build a trading firm than simply joining an established one

There's particular interest in high-potential candidates with roughly 2–6 years' experience.

What's the culture like?

It's a small, founder-led team where people work closely together.

There's significant autonomy, but also responsibility. Rather than having separate teams for every problem, people are encouraged to contribute wherever they can add value.

The culture is closer to a technology start-up with serious trading ambitions than a traditional hedge fund or large prop shop.

Location

New York – Flatiron.

The team works predominantly in the office and sees close, face-to-face collaboration as important during this stage of the company's growth.

Compensation

Base salaries are generally $150k–$250k, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.

The firm isn't positioning itself to compete with the largest established trading firms purely on immediate guaranteed compensation.

The attraction is instead centred around:

Ownership + upside + responsibility + the opportunity to build something early.

Early hires are expected to have meaningful participation in the upside as the business grows.

Interview Process

Usually 3–4 rounds, largely conversational and founder-led, with a relatively quick process.

Engineering candidates: Technical discussions followed by a technical exercise.

Trading candidates: Focused on how they think about markets, systematic trading, risk, problem-solving and commercial opportunities rather than purely academic questioning.

The Opportunity

The firm is looking for people capable of succeeding at a leading trading firm who are more excited by the opportunity to help build the next one.

It's particularly well suited to ambitious candidates who value ownership, learning, responsibility and long-term upside over simply maximising guaranteed compensation today.
