Associate Underwriter – Diversified Industries
Commercial & Corporate Banking
We’re looking for an Associate Underwriter to join a fast-growing Diversified Industries team within a leading Commercial Banking platform.
You’ll work with commercial operating companies across sectors like C&I, construction, engineering, manufacturing, and food & beverage (non–real estate), supporting a mix of new and existing lending transactions — from straightforward bilateral facilities through to large, more complex syndicated deals
This is a great fit for someone who enjoys getting close to the detail, understanding how businesses really operate, and being involved in transactions from end to end.
What you’ll be doing
- Reviewing financials and credit information to understand risk and lending needs
- Building financial models and writing clear, thoughtful credit recommendations
- Helping structure lending solutions that work for both the client and the bank
- Keeping a close eye on portfolio performance and flagging risks early
- Working day-to-day with Relationship Managers on live deals and ongoing client relationships
Why people enjoy this role
- The business is growing quickly, so there’s always something new to work on
- You’ll get real exposure to deals and relationships, not just “back-office” credit work
- As the team grows, you’ll take on more responsibility and start leading underwriting alongside Relationship Managers
- There’s flexibility in how your career develops — whether you want to stay in underwriting or move into a Relationship Manager role over time
- With multiple partner groups growing in parallel, there are longer-term opportunities to move into other areas of the business if that interests you
What they’re looking for
- Around 3–4 years’ experience in credit, underwriting, or commercial / corporate lending
- Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to write clear, practical credit papers
- Experience working with commercial businesses across a range of industries
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or similar (or equivalent experience)
- Someone who’s comfortable working independently, but enjoys being part of a collaborative team
If you’re looking for a role where you can build strong credit experience, stay close to the commercial side of the business, and grow as the platform grows, this is well worth a conversation.
