About the role
We’re partnering with a fast-growing global fintech platform operating in the digital assets space. This company builds technology that enables real-time trading and payments across multiple markets and liquidity sources.
They are growing their Digital Payments team and are looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and support modern payment systems. This role focuses on creating reliable, secure, and scalable backend services that power everyday financial transactions.
You’ll work on systems that connect to banks, card networks, and alternative payment providers, helping deliver smooth and dependable payment experiences for users around the world.
What you’ll be working on
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs for payment systems
- Integrate with bank rails such as ACH, SEPA, and FPS
- Work with card networks and alternative payment methods
- Support physical and virtual card products
- Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability
- Write clean, simple, and well-tested code
- Work with microservices and event-driven systems
- Deploy and manage services using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms
- Work closely with product managers and other engineers
- Take part in code reviews and technical discussions
What we’re looking for
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Strong backend experience with JavaScript and TypeScript

Good understanding of REST APIs

Experience with microservices and messaging systems

Knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and caching (e.g. Redis)

Comfortable using Git and modern development workflows

Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Good understanding of security in financial systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Clear communication skills and fluent English
Nice to have

Experience in fintech, banking, or payments
- Knowledge of payment gateways and financial integrations

Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines
- Experience integrating third-party APIs
- Interest in performance and system reliability
