Our client is seeking a skilled Rotating Equipment Engineer to provide comprehensive technical support for machinery across their site, while assisting in the development and implementation of the reliability philosophy and direction. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented engineer with experience in rotating equipment to contribute to the reliability and performance of key refinery systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating pre/post-turnaround machinery planning and contractor coordination to ensure optimal machinery performance.
  • Support the development and execution of machinery preventative maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Oversee the implementation of reliability action items for machinery, ensuring safe and reliable operations across the site.
  • Take a multi-disciplinary approach to projects, working closely with various departments, leveraging both internal expertise and external resources to drive project success.
  • Maximize the availability and utilization of process machinery at the lowest possible cost, while maintaining high reliability and performance.
  • Lead efforts to implement IMPACT and TOP investigation action items, ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently.
  • Drive the adoption of improved technology for predictive and preventative maintenance through research and collaboration with outside resources.
  • Work with business teams to optimize refinery performance, troubleshoot process machinery, and monitor support systems for ongoing improvements.
  • Perform machinery research, offering recommendations to improve operational efficiency and reduce failure rates.
  • Lead or participate in machinery-focused projects, providing direction, support, and coordination to ensure project goals are met.
  • Recommend and implement machinery reliability and operational improvements to enhance site performance.
  • Communicate progress and results related to assigned tasks and projects to key stakeholders.
  • Provide support for Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, ensuring machinery-related safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Contribute to Turnaround efforts by reviewing engineering packages, drawings, and scope development during the discovery phase.
  • Provide technical support for capital project development and implementation, ensuring mechanical considerations are met.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to improve unit reliability through reliability-focused maintenance practices.
  • Provide mechanical and technical support to teams throughout the site, analyzing failed items and recommending design changes to prevent repeat failures or extend machinery run lengths.
  • Oversee the management of change procedures for assigned mechanical changes, ensuring compliance and reliability.
  • Lead or participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations, identifying corrective actions to mitigate future issues.
  • Take a leadership role in the ongoing development and implementation of the machinery spare parts program.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2-10 years of experience in the petrochemical, refinery, or industrial engineering sector.
  • Experience in rotating equipment (pumps, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, turbines, fans, and blowers) including specifications, selection, shop testing, and field installations.
  • Familiarity with API standards (e.g., API 610, 612, 613, 617, 618) preferred.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, preventative maintenance programs, and root cause failure analysis is highly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
