Position Summary:
As a Critical Care Nurse, you will play a vital role in the care of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) or critical care unit (CCU). Your responsibilities will include monitoring patients, administering life-saving treatments, and providing emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor the condition of critically ill patients, including vital signs, lab results, and response to treatments.
- Administer complex medical therapies and interventions, such as mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support, and advanced life support measures.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for critically ill patients.
- Manage and administer medications and treatments, ensuring proper dosages and safe practices.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information, emotional support, and guidance during challenging situations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Respond to emergencies and life-threatening situations with confidence and proficiency.
- Stay current with critical care nursing best practices through ongoing education and training.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety in the critical care unit.
- Assist with patient and family education on their conditions, recovery process, and treatment plans.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred.
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification is a plus.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Compassion, empathy, and effective communication with patients and their families during challenging times.
- Proficiency in the use of advanced medical equipment and technology.
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond to emergencies with confidence.
- Knowledge of critical care nursing best practices and advanced life support measures.
