Position Summary:

As an Oncology Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in providing compassionate and specialized nursing care to cancer patients and their families. You will work closely with the healthcare team to offer support, administer treatments, and educate patients on managing their condition. Your expertise and empathy will be essential in providing the highest quality care in the oncology department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the physical and emotional needs of oncology patients and develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other cancer treatments following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, side effects, and response to treatment, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families about the disease, treatment options, potential side effects, and symptom management.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families, helping them cope with the challenges of cancer.
  • Administer and manage pain relief medications as needed, ensuring optimal comfort for patients.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care.
  • Assist with clinical procedures, such as biopsies, infusions, and blood transfusions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements and research in oncology nursing, attending relevant training and conferences.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help maintain a safe and effective healthcare environment.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred.
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) is a plus.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Compassion, empathy, and effective communication with patients and their families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy administration, side effect management, and oncology treatments.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and healthcare software.
