Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Manager to lead the service department at our CDJR dealership. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing service staff, and driving profitability. The Service Manager will play a key role in enhancing overall service department performance by setting and achieving departmental goals while maintaining high standards of vehicle service and repair quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, train, and motivate the service team (service advisors, technicians, and support staff) to deliver high-quality customer service and repairs.
- Ensure effective communication between the service team and other departments, including sales and parts.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement improvement plans when necessary.
- Recruit, hire, and train new service personnel.
Customer Service:
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Implement strategies to improve customer retention and loyalty, such as service follow-ups and service promotions.
- Resolve any customer complaints or issues in a timely manner.
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the service department to ensure efficiency, including scheduling service appointments and managing the workflow.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance work is completed correctly, on time, and in compliance with manufacturer standards.
- Maintain an organized and efficient workflow by managing technician assignments and shop resources.
- Monitor shop equipment and supplies, ensuring proper usage and maintenance.
Financial Performance & Reporting:
- Manage department profitability by analyzing and controlling costs while driving revenue growth.
- Develop and manage the service department budget, including labor, parts, and overhead expenses.
- Monitor service metrics such as labor sales, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and technician productivity.
- Prepare regular reports on service performance and provide actionable insights to improve efficiency and profitability.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all OEM standards, dealership policies, and state/federal regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety by adhering to workplace safety protocols and maintaining clean, organized work areas.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Service Manager in an automotive dealership, preferably within a CDJR (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram) environment.
- Strong understanding of automotive repair and maintenance procedures, including warranty and service contract processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to drive departmental success through team building and performance management.
- Proficient in dealership management software (DMS) and service scheduling systems.
- Financial acumen to manage budgets, control expenses, and analyze profitability.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to resolve issues and build lasting relationships.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Technical or vocational training in automotive repair (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar service management role.
