Used Car Manager 

Lake Charles, LA 

Expected Compensation: $250,000 up to $350,000


Job Summary:

The Used Car Manager is responsible for setting the goals of the pre-owned and CPO departments and oversees the day-to-day operations involving the purchase and sale of used cars, ensuring proper inventory levels, and training and developing sales staff. Understands the importance of building and maintaining relationships, overseeing the budget, motivating the team, and projecting an environment of continuous learning. The Used Car Manager performs a variety of essential duties, including, but not limited to, the following: 

  • Maintains vehicle inventory by monitoring customers' preferences, industry/market trends, lost sales, and dealership sales history and conducts local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock.  
  • Maintain accurate new and used vehicle information on the internet by taking and submitting vehicle photographs and ensuring price match between lot and internet. 
  • Manage areas of business, including goal setting, forecasting, and P&L. 
  • Provide training and support to sales staff for the development and improvement in sales skills and closing deals. 
  • Responsible for appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, displaying, and merchandising used vehicle inventory in a timely manner. 
  • Maintaining open communication with business units and personnel as well as management. Continue to develop and drive culture, including core values. 
  • Communicating and upholding the company’s commitment to integrity and Code of Ethics and ensuring the same for the entire team. 
  • Building, managing, and developing a team of successful sales associates to improve KPIs. 
  • Ensure immaculate and accurate display of marketing and merchandising materials for used and new vehicles, including stickers, pricing, storyboards, banners, streamers, and store signage. 
  • Monitor dealers' usage and operation of used car sales systems (UCPR) 
  • All Other Duties as Assigned. 


Qualifications & Abilities: 

  • Sales Desk and F&I experience required 
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills 
  • Knowledge of pre-owned vehicle purchase avenues 
  • Proficient with Digital Retailing. 
  • Proven success in auto retail and wholesale 
  • Microsoft Office and Dealership DMS experience 

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree from College or University (Preferred); or 
  • 10 – 15 years of combined auto dealership General Management/vendor experience; or 
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • AFIP Certification (Preferred) 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Requires ability to sit or stand for an extended period of time 
  • Requires the ability to travel via car or airplane as needed 
  • Requires ability to drive and must have a valid driver’s license 
  • Vision abilities required include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus 
  • Requires the ability to talk or hear regularly 
  • Requires ability to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
