A well-established and growing multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a high-profile £110m public sector scheme, currently at the early stages of development. This is a key leadership opportunity, offering ownership of a flagship programme with strategic importance and long-term impact.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, Manchester-based project management team and be responsible for client leadership, strategic delivery, and multidisciplinary coordination across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a £110m capital project, ensuring performance across time, cost, and quality metrics
  • Act as the principal client contact, building trust and driving programme success at a senior stakeholder level
  • Develop and implement delivery strategies, governance frameworks, and procurement plans
  • Oversee financial planning including cost management, feasibilities, and value engineering
  • Manage risk, change control, and reporting across all phases of the project
  • Coordinate and lead internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and supply chain partners
  • Chair high-level meetings, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues
  • Support the mentoring and development of junior team members, contributing to structured APC development


Experience & Skills Required

  • Significant project leadership experience, ideally 10+ years, within a consultancy or client-side environment
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale capital projects (£100m+) within government, blue light, healthcare, or defence sectors
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract
  • Experienced in working with local authorities, Trusts, and other public sector bodies
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially focused with a detailed understanding of project risk, contract strategy, and procurement
  • Adept at leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing multiple priorities
  • Chartered status with RICS, APM, CIOB, or equivalent (or working towards) preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant project management tools
