Intermediate Electrical Engineer

Birmingham | £30,000 - £40,000 + Hybrid + Flexible Working


The Role


An established building services consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in Birmingham. You will be involved in the design and delivery of electrical systems across a wide range of commercial, residential, and industrial projects. The position offers strong career progression and exposure to both design and site-based work.


Responsibilities

  • Producing detailed electrical designs, schematics, calculations, and specifications
  • Carrying out load assessments, distribution studies, and earthing design
  • Coordinating with mechanical and architectural disciplines to integrate electrical systems
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and suppliers to support project delivery
  • Conducting site inspections, testing, and commissioning
  • Ensuring compliance with BS7671, building regulations, and relevant standards
  • Providing guidance to junior engineers and apprentices
  • Staying up to date with industry innovations and sustainable technologies


Requirements

  • 1+ years’ experience in electrical engineering (design and site)
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Strong technical knowledge of circuit design, power systems, protection, and control
  • Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Dialux
  • Knowledge of BS7671 and other relevant regulations
  • Site experience including testing and commissioning
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence

 

Desirable:

  • Experience with sustainable and low-carbon technologies (solar, EV charging, battery storage)
  • Exposure to small-team leadership or project management
