The Opportunity

A new opportunity has opened for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a Building Services team, supporting the Building Surveying department with both inspection and design services across the Midlands and further afield. You’ll be involved in a range of projects in healthcare, education, and blue light sectors, offering a mix of site inspections, design work, and client-facing responsibilities. This role is suited to someone who enjoys variety and wants to contribute to both technical delivery and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specification of projects across multiple sectors
• Carrying out site inspections and surveys/condition reports
• Preparing cost estimates across RIBA stages
• Attending project progress and client meetings
• Reviewing contractor proposals
• Contributing to fee proposals, appointment documents, and business plans

About You

• Experience working in a consultancy environment preferred
• Degree qualified in Building Services or related discipline (or time-served equivalent)
• Strong experience in lifecycle analysis, condition surveys, and reporting
• Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and design packages such as MEPworx or IES
• Clear and effective communication skills
• UK driving licence with own vehicle and willingness to travel (Midlands + occasional London)
• Ambitious and passionate about the built environment
