Principal Electrical engineer – Data Centres - London

Due to their continued growth into the data centre sector, they have an opening for a Principal Electrical Engineer, ideally with data centre experience, to lead a multi-disciplinary team on technically challenging projects.

This role will be responsible for managing projects to deliver an excellent service to clients and assisting on the ongoing development and growth of the business, whilst providing sound technical, design, and contract management support. This role will report to the London-based senior management.


We’re looking for an experienced professional to provide sound technical, design, and contract management support on Electrical Building Services Engineering disciplines, to ensure project requirements and clients’ specifications are fully met.


Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth and maintaining and developing existing client relationships.
  • Monitor and take responsibility for the profit and loss within the working team. Formulation of the monthly financial reports, both internal management accounts and external applications for payment.
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery on project objectives, including providing technical support. Work with other Principal Engineers to ensure quality and timely operation delivery for clients.
  • Manage the training, development, appraisals and succession planning of staff within the team.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
  • Compile specifications, drawings and relevant Contract documents and maintain the required technical quality of work, ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
  • Act as the lead engineer and liaise with the Client and external design team as necessary for successful delivery of projects. Provide electrical or mechanical building engineering services design to buildings and infrastructure.
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process, maintain planning and cost control on all scopes.


Requirements:


  • Results-oriented individual with strong problem-solving, technical realisation, and coordination skills.
  • Holds a relevant degree in electrical/mechanical building services engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in various technical areas and knowledge at Principal Engineer level, including team management.
  • Member or associate of a professional body such as CIBSE, IET, or MIHEEM, with Chartered Engineer status achieved or in progress.
  • In-depth technical knowledge in primary discipline and thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design.
  • Familiar with complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modelling in building design.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, negotiation, and management skills with experience in resource planning and budgeting.
  • Experienced in delivering building services designs for small to large-scale projects, proficient in AutoCAD, NES, Cymap, Microsoft Office, and holds a current UK driving licence.
