Agile Coach – Marketing & Communication

Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Agile Coach to join a transformation programme within a large, complex organisation.

Our client’s Marketing & Communication department has been undergoing an ambitious agile transformation, moving towards a cluster structure with self-organising, multidisciplinary squads. The objective is to create a more empowered, efficient and autonomous way of working, enabling teams to plan and deliver high-quality marketing campaigns and other relevant deliverables with a shorter time-to-market.

The agile transformation is well underway, but the organisation is looking to take the next step. The successful consultant will help further embed agile principles and practices across the department, while also supporting the evolution of the agile mindset among leadership and teams.

You will work with senior management, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Chapter Leads and squads, helping them continuously improve their way of working and sustainably embed an effective, value-driven agile operating model.

Responsibilities

  • Guide squads, chapters and individuals in implementing and evolving an agile operating model, aligned with the broader organisational framework while adapting it to the specific needs of Marketing & Communication.
  • Assess the maturity and knowledge of agile methodologies within teams and determine the most appropriate approaches, techniques and practices.
  • Motivate employees to embrace an agile way of working, including the associated values, behaviours and mindset.
  • Coach senior management and agile leadership roles such as Scrum Masters, Product Owners and Chapter Leads on agile mindset, practical application and sustainable adoption.
  • Participate actively in team and operational meetings, monitor the quality and effectiveness of agile practices, and recommend tailored improvements.
  • Lead change-management activities related to the adoption of new ways of working, including training, mentoring and individual coaching where appropriate.
  • Develop or adapt training materials, documentation and working tools to facilitate the practical adoption of agile methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Chapter Leads and other Agile Coaches to identify, discuss and implement continuous improvements.
  • Facilitate and coordinate agile ceremonies and other workshops across squads, clusters and relevant communities.
  • Contribute to the continuous evolution of the department’s agile operating model and help ensure that agile ways of working are sustainably embedded in the organisation.

Experience & Competences

Required experience

  • At least 10 years of proven experience working in complex organisations.
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience of agile operating models in large organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing agile and/or Scrum practices in non-IT environments, preferably within Marketing & Communication.
  • Strong experience facilitating groups and supporting teams through learning and transformation processes.
  • Ability to understand and leverage team dynamics effectively.
  • Proven experience coaching senior management and leadership teams.
  • Experience designing, implementing or adapting organisational Target Operating Models in line with agile principles.
  • Strong background in Agile Transformation, change management and cultural embedding.
  • Extensive coaching experience.

Preferred experience

  • Experience as an agile trainer.
  • Practical experience as a Product Owner and/or Scrum Master.
  • Experience with methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean, SAFe, LeSS, DA and/or DevOps.

Certification

Certification in one or more relevant agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean, SAFe, LeSS, DA or DevOps) is expected.

Soft skills

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A strong team player and collaborative by nature.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • Passionate about knowledge sharing and developing others.
  • Empathetic and able to adapt to different organisational cultures, structures and personalities.
  • Persuasive and able to influence stakeholders at different levels.
  • Comfortable working with both operational teams and senior management.
  • Pragmatic, flexible and focused on creating sustainable business value.
