Platform Product Manager, K12

Our client, a nonprofit in K–12 education, is looking for a Platform Product Manager to join their team. This role will play an intricate part in the company’s growth as they will be responsible for creating, maintaining and updating a platform roadmap aligned to the company’s strategy, vision, and goals. They will drive strategic plans and initiatives with internal and external partners, define platform requirements, and deliver solutions that enhance our client’s classroom digital experience. This role reports to the Senior Director, Product Strategy and will work in partnership with a small cross functional team.


The right fit for this role is someone who listens to users, partners, and stakeholders and turns insight into actions that align to the market and business needs. They take initiative to implement change when needed, maintain momentum as details emerge and make informed, inclusive decisions that recognize the team’s shared success. 


This position is remote based. Limited travel required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Product Strategy and Improvement


  • Translate company strategy into platform initiatives that streamline content creation and amplify educator impact.
  • Set goals that align with company’s OKRs that focus on our client’s digital experience.
  • Build tools and services that power our client’s digital ecosystem: content authoring, delivery platforms, analytics, and educator-facing experiences.
  • Lead discovery and delivery of digital platforms that support both internal product creation and external educator experiences.
  • Drive the lifecycle of platform initiatives, from early exploration through development, launch, and iteration, ensuring they enable scale, efficiency, and engaging user experiences.
  • Partner closely within the Product Engineering and Innovation department (specifically within the Engineering and Design sub-departments), while collaborating cross-departmentally with Content Development, Client and Partner Success, and Communications.
  • Ensure decisions balance technical feasibility, organizational outcomes, and equity considerations.

 

Quality Assurance and Optimization

 

  • Deliver measurable outcomes aligned to organizational efficiency, educator satisfaction, and long-term sustainability.
  • Develop and implement the product roadmap that contains clear phases, goals, and success criteria.
  • Collaborate with other teams to refine work processes, solve problems, to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Prevent scope creep or handle it strategically when it adds clear value.
  • Commit to seeking feedback to address blind spots and ensure high-quality product delivery.
  • Develop or inform standard operating procedures for future successful product roadmap implementations.
  • Assess issues and determine when to escalate them to manager to mitigate risks and maintain product alignment with organizational priorities.

 

Relationship Management


  • Promote a shared understanding of the product roadmap across the PEI department, internal and external partners, and applicable contractors.
  • Lead initiatives, balancing competing priorities and surfacing trade-offs.
  • Support cross-departmental communications with technical and non-technical partners for clarity and cohesion, information sharing, knowledge transfer, and alignment on deliverables.
  • Champion a collaborative and transparent environment, promoting purpose-driven work and flexibility whenever possible.

 

 

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of product management experience with digital platforms or SaaS.
  • Experience in K12 EdTech platform development.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional platform initiatives through discovery, delivery, and iteration.
  • Strong technical fluency and ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering and Design sub-departments, including knowledge of APIs, data structures, and service boundaries (Plus if you have experience with PostHog).
  • Familiarity with the ins and outs of a CMS
  • Ability to influence technical dependency decisions between internal and external systems with a market lens, clarifying how architectural decisions affect product opportunities and constraints.
  • Exceptional communication, systems thinking, and internal and external management skills.
  • Commitment to our client’s mission.
  • Proficiency with cloud-based systems, especially Google Workspace applications, Asana, Notion, Slack, and Zoom.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver clear, concise information tailored to specific and varied audiences.
  • Comfort working in a small company environment.
  • Experience working in a remote team environment.
  • Able to travel as needed to meet with customers or attend company events (expected travel <20%)
  • Adheres to company travel policies and procedures, including budget constraints and expense reporting requirements.
  • Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the USA.

 

Preferred Qualifications


  • Working knowledge of different distributions models (direct to market, partnership, etc)
  • Familiarity with content management systems, digital delivery models, and data/analytics tools.
  • Understanding of accessibility, UX, and scalability principles.
  • Experience navigating complex stakeholder landscapes and driving alignment.
  • Comfort exploring ways AI can be used to improve processes and accelerate time-to-market.
