NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a financial services organization in the insurance sector to identify an AVP of Investment Accounting to lead and oversee the organization’s investment accounting function. This leadership role will support a large and diversified investment portfolio while partnering closely with finance, treasury, tax, and investment teams. Location and work model details will be discussed during the interview process.

This position is ideal for an experienced investment accounting leader who can manage complex financial reporting requirements while building a scalable accounting function supported by modern technology. The AVP will play a key role in ensuring accurate GAAP and statutory reporting across multiple asset classes while helping support broader investment strategy initiatives.

Required:

• 14+ years of investment accounting and financial reporting experience
• Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting related to investment portfolios
• Experience with complex asset classes, including private credit, private equity, CLOs, and fixed income securities
• Proven leadership experience in managing and developing accounting teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

Preferred:

• CPA designation
• Background in the insurance industry with exposure to statutory reporting requirements
• Experience supporting alternative investments and complex financial instruments
• Ability to collaborate across finance, treasury, tax, and investment operations teams
• Interest in leveraging emerging technologies or automation within accounting processes
