rueline's client, a leading agribusiness company located in TX, is seeking a Commodity Trade Accounting Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in managing the accounting operations for their dynamic AgriFoods division, which includes commodity trading and farming activities.


What You'll Do as the Commodity Trade Accounting Manager:


  • Prepare and review accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll for the Accounting department.
  • Receive trade slips, forward contracts, and maintain forecasted financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flows, and market-to-market analyses per entity and business unit.
  • Manage month-end accounting close and internal/external reporting requirements across all AgriFoods divisions.
  • Maintain and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to minimize risk.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports in accordance with GAAP principles.
  • Collaborate with trading, farming, and management teams to communicate variances between general ledger gross profit and daily P&L reports.
  • Produce annual budgets, forecasts, and report significant variances to management.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow reports.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and provide information for annual audits.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

You'll Succeed as the Commodity Trade Accounting Manager if you Have:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance (required). CPA designation preferred.
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience related to commodity trading.
  • Significant experience in a commodity trading organization, with financial control and accounting exposure.
  • Familiarity with the Daily P&L process in a commodity trading environment.
  • Experience working with large raw data sets and manipulating data in Excel.
  • Ability to develop relationships with multiple stakeholders, including traders, marketers, risk & IT professionals.
  • Experience collaborating with departments like Risk, Middle Office, Operations, and Settlements.
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite (desirable).
  • Excellent management, supervisory, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in database and accounting computer application systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
