Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Machine design and assembly
• Generate mechanical and electrical CAD drawings.
• Conceptualize and design quality automation in efficient (profitable) timeframes with accuracy.
• Manage automation projects.
• Document engineering changes to jobs.
• Ability to generate and maintain machine Bill of Materials (BOM’s).
• Automation setup, startup, and debug.
• Utilize mechanical components, bearings, pneumatic systems, electrical sensors, PLC’s, motor drives, and vision systems.
• Maintain blueprint changes for all jobs.
• Design assigned mechanical assemblies as directed by management.
• Work closely with engineers to develop new automation systems.
• Manage assigned projects through completion.
• Work with customers on different aspects of their job(s).
• Releasing machined, fabricated, and purchased parts to production.
• Machine build follow-up, revisions, and documentation.
• Analyze and record test results and prepare written testing documentation.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned to aid Prescott Metal/EAM to achieve its goals.
Installation and Service
• Manage machine setup and run up.
• Assist or supervise automation setup, startup, and debug at customer facility.
• Travel to customer facility for training their management and operators.
Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience (associate degree with continuing education acceptable).
• Proficient with drafting practices and symbols.
• Ability to draft from existing designs and direct other drafting resources.
• Conception and design of new automation using 3D solids.
• Solid mechanical ability for hands on automation assembly and development.
• Good communication skills to interface with customers to support equipment installation and service.
• Expert with Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS and Inventor).
• Ability to generate mechanical fabrication drawings, including tolerances.
• Ability to generate production job orders and bills of materials.
• Experience with electrical control panels, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
• Experience managing inventory and company assets.
• Ability to design and build mechanical assemblies and fixtures.
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems, components, and assemblies.
• Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Technical writing ability to generate machine manuals.
• Ability to use and understand precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, squares, and scales.
• Experience with automated control systems, and ability to design parts of automation systems.
• Ability to travel to perform service and/or machine installations.
• Ability to assist in machine sales.
Physical Demands/Work Conditions:
• The Engineer varies between sitting standing for 8-10 hours per day with, walking, stooping, and reaching, as well as frequently lifting manually and/or moving material up to 50 pounds.
• Typical manufacturing environment, subject to dust, metal shavings, machinery oil, and electrical hazards.
• Frequently working with machinery that has pinch points and rotating parts.
