The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager (EHS) is the custodian and driver of the site’s Safety-First culture. This role owns delivering the EHSS roadmap, deployment of our standards, and the cultural transformation required to move the workforce from Dependent to Independent safety behaviors. This role will oversee all critical environmental, safety, and operational initiatives across the facility; they are also responsible for leading site level programs that strengthen regulatory compliance, enhance operational resilience, and ensure safe execution of strategic capital improvements. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross functional teams and with external partners.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBLITIES & REQUIREMENTS

Ownership of EHS Strategy Lead the implementation and execution of our EHS policies, procedures, and Annual Operating Plans (AOP). 

• Regulatory Command: Ensure 100% site compliance with all federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA requirements, including LOTO, Haz Com, and Machine Safety. 

• Systemic Integrity: Develop and maintain written departmental procedures that align local operations with established environmental, health, and safety processes. 

• Financial & Resource Planning: Execute departmental tools, systems, and resourcing plans to meet business outcomes. 

• Data Management & Compliance Reporting: Maintain high quality records, metrics, and documentation to support compliance tracking, trend analysis, and strategic decision making. 

 

Wastewater Treatment Enhancement:

• Wastewater Project Leadership: Manage and provide technical leadership for the safe and successful implementation of wastewater treatment system upgrades. 

• Construction & Commissioning EHS Governance: Establish and enforce EHSS expectations for contractors; conduct safety reviews, audits, and incident investigations throughout construction. Lead EHS readiness reviews, and hazard assessments prior to system startup. 

• Environmental Performance & Compliance Assurance: Oversee monitoring, sampling, and reporting programs during construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations. Lead internal audits and ensure alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements. 

 

Drive Progression of Bradley Curve from Compliance to Independence

• Cultural Evolution: Act as the primary change leader, moving the site culture away from supervisor-dependent compliance toward a state of Independent personal ownership. 

• Behavioral Coaching: Spend significant time on the floor to recognize and verify the effectiveness of control measures while coaching the team to move beyond "check-the-box" safety. 

• Engagement Leadership: Lead the evolution of a robust Quality and Food Safety Culture by reinforcing personal accountability for the integrity and legality of all processes. 

 

Technical Execution & Risk Reduction in High-Speed Manufacturing Environment

• Automation Risk Management: Perform advanced risk assessments and assist in the implementation of effective physical and behavioral controls for highly automated production lines. 

• Root Cause Mastery: Lead root cause analyses (RCA) for all incidents and near-misses, identifying management system weak-spots and developing corrective actions through industry-recognized techniques. 

• Operational Authority: Identify unsafe equipment operation and conditions, with the authority to drive immediate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment use. 

 

Environmental Program Leadership:

• Environmental Compliance Leadership: Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental compliance programs, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local regulations. 

• Risk Management & Mitigation: Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and environmental risks across site activities. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions to strengthen performance and prevent recurrence.

• Compliance Oversight: Serve as a point of contact for environmental agencies and external auditors; coordinate inspections, reporting, remediation activities, and communication of compliance status to leadership.

 

Contractor Management Governance:

• Adherence: Lead the site’s contractor management program by enforcing safety, environmental, and operational requirements.

• Verification: Ensure contractor compliance with all regulatory, corporate, and adherence to our standards, provide oversight of contractor high risk activities.

 

 

Business Outcomes:

Run + Build - executes departmental tools, systems, business cases, reporting, business processes and resourcing plans

 

People and Teams:

Directs the work of others up to and including manager and has full authority for hiring, performance, development and disciplinary action. Develops both individuals and high performing teams

 

Know-How:

Progressive knowledge of concepts and business processes and how they can be applied or integrated into the business

1. Drive implementation and continuous improvement of our company’s EHS policies, procedures, and Annual Operating Plans.

3. Lead environmental program execution—including wastewater compliance, monitoring, reporting, and agency interaction—while conducting audits, managing regulatory inspections, and driving corrective actions that

4. Complete root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry-recognized cause analysis techniques.

5. Provide day-to-day guidance and support to management regarding environmental, health & safety practices, interpretation of company environmental, health and safety policies, problem resolution, and compliance with federal and state law; develops and maintains written departmental procedures to guide management in the application of established environmental, health and safety processes and documentation.

 

 

 


QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

Experience Category:  8 or more years

1. Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years’ relevant work experience in EHS 

2. Safety management experience in a related industry, including consumer packaged goods, distribution/transportation, or manufacturing

3. Strong understanding of environmental compliance and requirements.

4. Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to influence, effective communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking skills and presence in meetings and training environments

5. Ability to make and deliver training presentations, work collaboratively with colleagues to create results-driven, team-oriented environment, maintain confidentiality, make independent decisions, demonstrate excellent organizational skills, use PC and related software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
