Position Summary:
The Sourcing Manager will own both the strategic and executional dimensions of sourcing at our company — managing day-to-day purchasing activity while building the supplier relationships, category strategies, and scalable processes that a rapidly growing brand requires. This role partners closely with Operations, Quality, R&D, and Commercialization to drive supply continuity, cost performance, and sourcing readiness across ingredients, agricultural inputs, and packaging.
Success in this role requires comfort operating in ambiguity, building scalable processes where they do not yet exist, and balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across ingredients, agricultural inputs, and packaging categories
• Develop and execute category strategies that balance cost, quality, supply continuity, and supplier capability
• Monitor commodity markets and proactively surface risks, opportunities, and recommended actions
• Support supplier negotiations, contract discussions, and pricing strategy across key categories
• Analyze complex sourcing problems — supply disruptions, cost escalations, spec changes — by breaking them into components, identifying root causes, and framing clear options with tradeoffs for the business
Purchasing & Transactional Execution
• Manage day-to-day purchasing activity across ingredients and packaging, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with production requirements
• Maintain purchase orders, lead time tracking, and supplier communication to support on-time delivery and inventory targets
• Partner with Supply Planning to align purchasing activity with demand forecasts and inventory policies
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
• Own supplier relationship management and ongoing performance oversight across ingredients, packaging, and key supply partners
• Develop supplier scorecards with clear metrics for quality, service, lead times, and cost; lead regular business reviews and corrective action processes
• Drive supplier accountability and continuous improvement through structured communication and follow-through
• Invest in understanding suppliers' businesses — their economics, constraints, and priorities — to build partnerships that create mutual value, not just extract cost
Commercialization & Cross-Functional Support
• Support ingredient and packaging qualification during new product development, scale-up, and launch
• Partner with Quality, Operations, and R&D to ensure supply base readiness ahead of commercialization milestones
• Build scalable sourcing processes, reporting tools, and frameworks to support the next phase of growth
You Might Be the One If…
You move with urgency and own the outcomes
• You stay ahead of supply risks, act before issues escalate, and follow through without being asked
• You are equally comfortable executing transactions and thinking strategically about categories — and you know when each is required
• Ambiguity does not slow you down; you create structure, prioritize quickly, and move the business forward
You’re a builder with strong commercial instincts
• You bring data and market insight to sourcing decisions, negotiate with confidence, and build trusted supplier relationships
• You look for ways to build process, reduce manual work, and improve visibility — and you get it done without waiting for perfect conditions
• You are energized by learning how things work, not just managing them, and you are always looking for ways to improve cost, continuity, and supplier performance
You’re a trusted cross-functional partner
• You communicate proactively, translate supply dynamics into business language, and follow through consistently
• You thrive in a lean, fast-moving environment and bring others along rather than working around them
• You build credibility with internal and external partners through technical depth, commercial judgment, and reliability
• You take the time to understand what your internal partners are trying to solve (not just what they are asking you to buy)
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Food Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of progressive sourcing or supply chain experience ideally within food and beverage environments or CPG. Candidates from other industries with strong analytical instincts and a track record of learning new categories quickly are encouraged to apply
• Experience managing both transactional purchasing and strategic sourcing responsibilities
• Agricultural ingredient sourcing exposure and packaging sourcing experience a plus
• Strong commercial instincts, negotiation capabilities, and supplier management skills
• Strong analytical toolkit; proficiency in Excel and supply chain systems required
• Experience supporting growth-stage or better-for-you CPG businesses preferred
