Software Project Manager – WMS / WES / WCS

Blue Bridge People is partnering with a leading systems integration company to identify a Software Project Manager with experience delivering WMS, WES, and/or WCS solutions. This is an opportunity to manage the software delivery scope of large, integrated automation projects supporting distribution, fulfillment, and manufacturing environments.

The Software Project Manager will own the software portion of projects from functional design through testing, deployment, commissioning, go-live, and transition to ongoing support. This is a software delivery and project management role rather than a software development position. The successful candidate will have enough technical understanding of WMS/WES/WCS environments to work effectively with software engineers, customers, third-party technology providers, and the overall project team.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the software project lifecycle for assigned WMS, WES, and/or WCS implementations from functional design through go-live.
• Manage software scope, schedule, resources, budget, risks, and customer deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.
• Work closely with software engineering teams to coordinate development, integration, testing, and deployment activities.
• Partner with the overall Project Manager to integrate software activities with the broader automation project schedule, including equipment installation, controls integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Manage software interfaces and dependencies involving customer systems, ERP/WMS platforms, material handling equipment, robotics, scanners, labeling systems, and other third-party technologies.
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, schedule issues, and potential change orders and drive them to resolution.
• Coordinate software testing activities including integration testing, emulation, FAT, SAT, UAT, and end-to-end system testing.
• Oversee software documentation, test plans, defect tracking, training materials, and customer acceptance activities.
• Monitor software project financials, resource requirements, and forecasts and communicate status to project leadership and customers.
• Serve as a primary customer contact for software scope, schedule, issues, decisions, and escalations.
• Coordinate with third-party technology providers and customer teams to ensure interface requirements and commitments are delivered on schedule.
• Support commissioning, system bring-up, go-live, and transition to post-project support.
• Provide regular project status updates covering schedule, budget, resources, risks, issues, and overall software delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of project management experience, including experience managing software delivery or implementation projects.
• Experience with WMS, WES, and/or WCS implementations in distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, or another automated environment.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with responsibility for schedule, budget, resources, and customer delivery.
• Working knowledge of software delivery methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
• Experience working with project management and software development tools such as JIRA and MS Project or comparable platforms.
• Strong understanding of software integrations and the ability to work effectively with technical teams and third-party providers.
• Strong financial and project forecasting skills, including budget management, variance analysis, and change management.
• Excellent customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to travel to customer sites (30-50%), including extended periods during testing, commissioning, and go-live.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in material handling automation, warehouse automation, or systems integration.
• Experience with commercial WMS platforms such as Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Körber, SAP EWM, Softeon, or Deposco.
• Experience with WES/WCS software and integration with conveyor, sortation, AS/RS, goods-to-person, robotics, or other automated material handling systems.
• Understanding of how WCS/WES software interacts with PLCs, controls systems, and material handling equipment.
• Familiarity with APIs, web services, EDI, flat files, message queues, or other system integration technologies.
• Experience with software emulation or simulation used to validate automation systems before commissioning.
• Experience managing third-party software vendors, technology partners, or subcontractors.
• PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, CSM, or similar project management certification.

Target compensation is $140-160k base salary DOE
