About LogistiQ

LogistiQ designs, manufactures, and integrates conveyor and material handling solutions for retail, e-commerce, and distribution customers. Operating from a 750,000-square-foot facility in Port Clinton, Ohio, the company is growing its product portfolio and strengthening the engineering processes that support its continued growth.

About the Role

The Manager, Product Engineering leads the team responsible for transitioning conveyor and material handling products into manufacturing and supporting them throughout their lifecycle.

This role connects engineering design with production and field execution. Working closely with Design Engineering, R&D, Operations, Quality, and field teams, the manager ensures products are ready to manufacture, properly documented, and supported after release.

The team currently includes approximately six to seven employees, including product engineers and a technical writer. This leader will develop clear ownership of product categories, build team expertise, and establish consistent processes for manufacturing release, engineering changes, documentation, and ongoing product support.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys developing people, building processes, and helping a growing engineering organization operate more effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop product engineers, with responsibility for workload planning, priorities, performance reviews, and development plans.
  • Establish clear ownership of product categories and develop engineers into knowledgeable technical resources for their assigned equipment.
  • Assess team capabilities and recommend improvements to responsibilities, structure, and workflows.
  • Establish standard work and promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee product documentation and technical literature in coordination with technical writing resources.

Manufacturing Release and Product Lifecycle Ownership

  • Coordinate the handoff of products from Design Engineering and R&D into manufacturing.
  • Lead final design-for-manufacturing and assembly reviews, working with Operations and Quality to resolve issues before release.
  • Ensure bills of materials, routings, manufacturing documentation, and required production inputs are accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
  • Coordinate the availability and accuracy of nesting files, equipment programs, and other inputs required to manufacture products.
  • Own ongoing engineering support for released products, including product maintenance, changes, manufacturing questions, and field issues.
  • Support product categories such as powered roller conveyors, belt conveyors, gravity conveyors, and related accessories.

Engineering Processes and Systems

  • Strengthen engineering change administration, product release workflows, and documentation practices in coordination with Design Engineering and other stakeholders.
  • Help formalize and reinforce phase-gate processes, including documented reviews, approvals, and handoff requirements.
  • Improve the use of PDM/PLM tools to manage product information and engineering workflows, including greater use of the existing SolidWorks PDM platform.
  • Establish repeatable processes that support a growing product portfolio and manufacturing operation.

Manufacturing Support and Product Improvement

  • Partner with Production, Process Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Planning to resolve product-related manufacturing issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, assembly, throughput, quality, and safety through product and documentation improvements.
  • Support routing optimization and manufacturing process initiatives that require product changes or engineering input.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement leadership on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Participate in safety reviews, risk assessments, and audits, promoting safe and ergonomic product and process design.

Cross-Functional and Field Support

  • Serve as a central engineering resource for released products, coordinating additional technical expertise when needed.
  • Gather feedback from Systems Engineering, field integration, field execution, Sales, and customers to identify product improvements.
  • Translate manufacturing and field feedback into actionable engineering changes and recommendations for future development.
  • Represent Product Engineering in program and product reviews and support customer and supplier technical discussions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • At least five years of experience in product engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and translating engineering designs into fabrication and assembly requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with direct supervision and employee development experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing release, engineering changes, and ongoing product lifecycle management.
  • Experience with structured product development processes and PDM/PLM platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD; SolidWorks is preferred, with comparable experience in Inventor, NX, or similar platforms considered.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems for BOM and routing management.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing and assembly, Lean manufacturing tools, and Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong analytical, communication, project management, and cross-functional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and implement processes, guide teams through change, and remain involved in day-to-day technical issues.

Preferred Experience

  • Conveyor systems, material handling equipment, industrial automation, or related machinery.
  • Implementing or improving SolidWorks PDM or another engineering data management platform.
  • Leading continuous improvement or new product introduction initiatives.
  • Supporting products through both manufacturing and field deployment.

Work Environment and Travel

This role works within a manufacturing setting and requires regular interaction with the shop floor. On-site leadership presence is important; hybrid arrangements may be considered based on experience and the needs of the team. Occasional travel may be required for training, vendor visits, or project support.

LogistiQ is an equal opportunity employer. Employment decisions are based on qualifications and job requirements.
