Structural Project Engineer


Our client is a well-established leader in the material handling industry and is seeking an experienced Structural Project Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of structural design projects, customize solutions to meet customer requirements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions in a fast-paced environment.


Under the general direction of an Engineering Team Lead, the Structural Project Engineer develops and executes projects involving standard structural designs while customizing those designs to meet customer-specific requirements. This position ensures compliance with industry safety and quality standards while serving as a technical representative in coordinating and communicating with customers and suppliers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Independently complete project assignments delegated by the Engineering Team Lead or Engineering Manager.
  • Support product, process, and production design improvement initiatives while contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Complete engineering work in accordance with established design standards while ensuring projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously throughout various stages of the engineering process, including:
  • Customer communication and coordination
  • Initial project sketches, drawings, and engineering analysis
  • Preparation, review, and submission of approval drawings
  • Processing customer-returned approval drawings
  • Engineering revisions and project change documentation
  • Final detail drawing reviews and approvals
  • Engineering calculation packages and supporting analysis for submittals
  • Evaluate project scope changes and associated cost impacts, then communicate those changes to Sales or Project Management for customer negotiations.
  • Maintain and update project information within the project database.
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering support to Project Managers, Detailers, and Drafters.
  • Independently develop complex production designs using established engineering standards and tools within a 3D CAD modeling environment, including work that extends beyond standard design tools when necessary.


Qualifications


Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architectural Sciences required.
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam required.
  • 1–3 years of experience using AutoCAD 2016 or newer.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software is required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in material handling equipment product and process design preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and knowing when to seek guidance.
  • Strong communication skills with cross-functional teams, including Drafting, Sales, and Project Management.
  • Ability to interpret bills of materials, engineering drawings, design data, and engineering standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


This is an onsite position in West Allis, WI

Compensation is: $100-115k base salary
