About the Role

Our client, a growing manufacturing organization, is adding a Senior System Engineer to their IT team following a recent acquisition. This newly created role is central to unifying and modernizing the company's infrastructure as two organizations come together — with a strong focus on cloud transformation, scalable architecture, and enterprise identity management.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior infrastructure professional to shape the technical direction of a growing IT environment, working directly with IT leadership to determine what moves to the cloud, what stays on-premises, and how to build a foundation that scales.

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Salary: 110-125k

What You'll Do

  • Architect, manage, and optimize physical and virtual server environments
  • Lead cloud platform strategy, migrations, and transformation initiatives — evaluating what should move to the cloud vs. remain on-prem
  • Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365, and related infrastructure services
  • Manage user access, permissions, and identity configurations across the environment
  • Monitor system, application, and infrastructure performance to ensure reliability
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application, and connectivity issues
  • Support networking technologies including firewalls, VPNs, wireless, routing, switching, and intrusion detection systems
  • Drive infrastructure improvements, automation initiatives, and operational best practices
  • Partner with vendors, business stakeholders, and IT team members to support business operations
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI technologies for continuous improvement
  • Define, document, and enforce system standards and operational procedures
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and security initiatives
  • Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately one week every two months)

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years supporting enterprise infrastructure environments
  • Proven experience supporting cloud transformation and migration initiatives (any major platform — AWS, Azure, or GCP — is welcome)
  • Advanced knowledge of physical and virtual server administration
  • Strong understanding of how infrastructure, applications, networking, and business systems interrelate in an enterprise environment
  • Advanced knowledge of access controls, identity management, and security best practices
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization technologies
  • Networking experience: firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, wireless, and intrusion detection
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Automation/scripting experience a plus
