A notable independent restaurant group seeks a Japanese Sushi Chef to join its Michelin level omakase-style restaurant. The team seeks an experienced Sushi

Chef with upscale sushi experience to join this small, 15 seat dinner only, fine dining omakase chef's counter restaurant. The intimate dining experience requires a level of artistry and hospitality from the Sushi Chef. Candidates must be familiar with proper nigiri technique, various aspects of fish butchery--particularly as applied to Japanese fish--immaculate organization, clean work technique and a polished and professional demeanor


The compensation for this position is hourly plus tips and benefits.


This is a full time position with services 5 days a week.


Experience

  • 3+ years in fine dining restaurants and service
  • 3 years of sushi experience at a notable, upscale sushi restaurant
  • Knowledge of sake preferred, but not required;
  • Japanese fish butchery and Japanese cuisine experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in an open-kitchen and chef’s counter environment
  • Ability to communicate and work in English, especially while multi-tasking and interacting with guests
  • Attention to professional appearance, care and grooming are necessary for consideration
