We’re hiring a Senior Applied ML Scientist to help reimagine how customers find and interact with products across a complex catalog—using semantic search, recommendations, and personalization.

While the preferred location is hybrid in Chicago, we are open to exceptional remote candidates anywhere in the U.S.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, build, and deploy advanced ML models (LLMs, NLP, CV, semantic search)
• Collaborate across data science, engineering, and product to embed your work in production
• Stay on top of the latest in transformer models and generative AI, and apply them practically
• Build large-scale semantic search, hybrid ranking, and personalized recommendation systems
• Translate business problems into ML solutions and deliver measurable outcomes
• Mentor peers and contribute to long-term ML strategy and architecture

🧰 

What You Bring

• 3+ years of post-academic experience delivering real-world ML solutions
• Advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in a technical field (CS, EE, Physics, etc.)
• Strong Python and SQL; hands-on with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, etc.
• Experience deploying ML in production with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow
• Deep understanding of transformer-based models (BERT, GPT, T5), embeddings, and semantic search
• Solid grasp of architectural patterns for scalable, low-latency ML systems

• Experience in multimodal ML (text + image for product search/discovery)
• Building recommender systems at scale
• Working on multilingual NLP and domain adaptation
• Familiarity with optimizing models for inference (quantization, distillation)
