Position Details

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Software Engineering Manager

Location: El Segundo, CA

Status: Full-time (Day Shift)


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement navigation algorithms for UAV guidance, navigation, and control (GNC).
  • Evaluate vehicle controllability and performance, collaborate on integrating navigation solutions, and recommend system design improvements.
  • Support ground and flight tests to ensure reliable, high-performance autonomous operations.
  • Create and validate models and simulations.
  • Analyze data to assess and refine system performance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration.


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience, with at least 3+ years in GNC system design and development.
  • Strong foundation in Kalman filtering and state estimation; control theory knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++.
  • Experience with IMU/GPS, RTK-GNSS, dual GNSS systems, and sensor fusion.
  • Embedded software development experience, including coding for microcontrollers.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Specialization in UAV navigation systems.
  • Experience with fault-tolerant navigation and real-time operating systems (PX4 familiarity a plus).
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics, flight stability, and UAV vehicle control.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated technical and/or team leadership experience.
  • Prior work in the defense or aerospace sectors.
