Position: Sales Manager – Concentration: Group Sales

Location: Santa Monica - Premier Beachfront Property


Job Overview

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving group business to maximize revenue, guest satisfaction, and overall market share. This role focuses on identifying, soliciting, and closing group accounts—ranging from corporate meetings and incentive travel to social gatherings and special events. The Sales Manager will proactively develop new business while maintaining strong relationships with past and existing accounts to ensure revenue goals are consistently achieved or exceeded.

Essential Job Functions

  • Proactively source, qualify, and secure new group business through sales calls, site inspections, trade shows, networking, and industry events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with meeting planners, travel agents, and corporate decision-makers to increase group bookings.
  • Conduct detailed site inspections and create compelling group proposals tailored to client needs.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage account details to ensure seamless execution of all group events.
  • Partner with operations, banquet, catering, and revenue management teams to ensure group requirements are communicated and executed successfully.
  • Track account activity, maintain accurate records, and prepare timely reports on group sales performance.
  • Represent the property at trade shows, industry meetings, and networking events to expand brand presence and generate leads.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote special group offers and targeted campaigns.
  • Maintain an active presence in the local market to monitor competition, trends, and new opportunities.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.


Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proven track record in group sales within the hospitality industry (hotel, resort, or conference center).
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach, while also being a self-starter who thrives on exceeding goals.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations and interdepartmental collaboration to ensure client satisfaction.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $80,000–$90,000 DOE (OEM Status)
  • Quarterly & Annual Bonus Program (up to 35%)
