Bar Manager – Shortened & Proprietor-Neutral
A high-volume, design-driven restaurant is seeking a Bar Manager to oversee all bar operations, staff performance, and beverage program development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily bar operations, ensuring service standards, grooming guidelines, and punctuality are upheld.
- Delegate tasks, run shift briefings, manage handovers, and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety, fire regulations, and company policies.
- Organize service sections and staff breaks while maintaining smooth operations.
- Address staff issues in coordination with senior leadership.
- Handle guest relations, resolve complaints, and ensure overall satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of beverage menus, wine/champagne offerings, pricing, and VIP requests.
- Manage beverage purchasing, storage, and inventory; support marketing initiatives and promotions.
- Oversee staff training, development, performance reviews, and recruitment.
- Complete closing duties, paperwork, and ensure all control systems are followed.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control to meet beverage margin goals.
- Support revenue-generation initiatives and promotional activities.
- Oversee POS usage and ensure all audit and control processes are followed.
- Maintain guest recognition standards and team engagement.
- Monitor grooming, hygiene, and performance of all bar staff.
- Ensure onboarding processes, departmental training, and skills development plans are executed.
- Uphold health & safety standards, identify hazards, and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Report grievances to management and uphold a safe, compliant workplace.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs.
- Long periods of standing and mobility throughout shift.
- Tolerance for varying noise and lighting conditions.
