Position Overview


The Kindergarten teacher leads a self-contained classroom and works closely with an associate teacher to create a warm, structured, and engaging learning environment for young students. The role includes whole-group instruction, small-group differentiation, and the thoughtful integration of literacy, math, and experiential learning.


Kindergarten students also participate in specialty area courses, allowing the classroom teacher to collaborate with colleagues across the program.


Key Responsibilities


The Kindergarten teacher will:

• Create a joyful and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of young learners

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school’s literacy and math programs

• Utilize whole-group instruction alongside differentiated small-group learning

• Partner closely with an associate teacher to support classroom instruction and student needs

• Implement effective classroom management strategies rooted in positive relationships and clear expectations

• Collaborate with colleagues in a highly team-oriented teaching environment

• Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom experiences

• Participate actively in faculty collaboration, curriculum conversations, and school life


Curriculum and Instruction


Kindergarten instruction at Lamplighter includes:

UFLI Phonics for literacy development

Eureka Squared Math for foundational numeracy

• Integrated learning experiences that support language development, creativity, and exploration


Students also attend specialty area classes as part of their weekly schedule.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree

• Elementary or early childhood teaching experience

• Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills


Preferred

• Master’s degree in education or a related field

• Experience with structured literacy approaches

• Familiarity with Google Workspace or similar classroom technology tools
