Top Accountabilities

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation: Oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive financial strategy that aligns with the firm’s long-term goals. The CFO will lead the annual budgeting process, implement accurate forecasting models, and provide data-driven insights to guide strategic decision-making. They will ensure resources are allocated efficiently across departments and initiatives to maximize growth potential, profitability, and return on investment. By closely monitoring financial performance and adjusting forecasts as necessary, the CFO will help the firm stay agile and prepared for both short-term challenges and long-term opportunities.
  • Implement scalable financial systems and processes, driving operational efficiency: Develop and integrate scalable financial systems and technology platforms that can grow with the firm, ensuring efficient financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. The CFO will standardize processes to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance data accuracy, enabling faster decision[1]making and greater transparency. By automating workflows and leveraging advanced financial tools, they will support business expansion while maintaining strong internal controls and risk management practices, ensuring the firm can operate smoothly as it scales.
  • Manage and optimize the firm’s capital structure: Oversee a balanced capital strategy that supports growth, focusing on maintaining an optimal mix of debt and equity. The CFO will ensure the firm’s liquidity, manage relationships with financial partners, and prepare for potential opportunities such as raising minority capital. They will also drive capital allocation, optimize leverage, and ensure the business is positioned for future growth and investment opportunities while maintaining financial flexibility and minimizing the cost of capital.
  • Assist with mergers & acquisitions (M&A), including due diligence, financial integration, and post-acquisition management: The CFO will lead the financial evaluation of acquisition targets, conducting due diligence to assess risks, synergies, and strategic alignment. They will oversee financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring to ensure optimal outcomes. Post-acquisition, the CFO will manage the integration of financial systems and processes, ensuring alignment with the firm’s reporting standards and driving performance tracking to realize synergies and value creation. The CFO will also monitor long-term financial outcomes, making adjustments to optimize post-transaction success.
  • Work closely with key business leaders to contribute to overall firm strategy and decision-making at the executive level: The CFO will collaborate with the executive team to shape the firm’s strategic direction, ensuring financial insights drive business decisions. They will also lead and manage the corporate finance team, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure high performance and alignment with the firm's goals. The CFO will empower the team to deliver actionable financial analysis, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization, and ensuring that financial strategies are fully integrated into the firm’s overall objectives.

 

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the treasury function, including hands-on involvement in cash management, bank account oversight, and ensuring robust controls through review of reconciliations, maintaining a balance between strategic financial leadership and essential operational tasks.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of all shareholder transactions.
  • Manage communication with shareholders regarding status of their interest including the development of annual ownership reports, management of distributions, and responding to ad hoc questions and concerns.
  • Oversee the completion of the financial reporting, accounts payable, and billing processes completed by the corporate finance team.
  • Proactively work with corporate tax counsel and other tax advisors to ensure corporate tax strategies are optimized. Complete corporate tax returns and quarterly estimates.
  • Manage the annual audit process.
  • Regular interaction with investment banking relationships to ensure KPI measurement is prioritized and benchmarked accordingly.
  • Support HR in the review of benefits and the retirement plan maintenance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all key internal and external financial providers and vendors associated with aforementioned duties.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (required).
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or a related advanced degree (preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) (preferred).
  • Additional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) are a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial management role (CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent), preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Experience in a middle-market company (preferred), with a track record of scaling operations and building financial infrastructure to support growth.
  • Proven expertise in financial services or a closely related industry, with deep understanding of industry-specific regulations, compliance, and financial instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with fintech trends and digital tools that can enhance financial operations
