Director of Estate Planning
A leading registered investment advisory firm serving ultra-high-net-worth families, entrepreneurs, executives, business owners, athletes, and entertainers is seeking a Director of Estate Planning. The Director of Estate Planning will serve as the senior planning resource for complex, multi-generational client relationships. This is a highly visible, client-facing leadership role responsible for estate and tax planning, family office deliverables, team leadership, and the continued development of the firm's planning platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead estate, tax, and wealth transfer planning for ultra-high-net-worth families.
- Serve as a senior planning advisor for a defined client portfolio.
- Coordinate with outside attorneys, CPAs, trustees, and other professional advisors.
- Advise on entity structures, business succession, liquidity events, gifting, and tax-efficient investment strategies.
- Own and enhance family office planning frameworks, deliverables, and processes.
- Manage, mentor, and develop junior planning professionals.
- Establish quality standards and best practices for client deliverables.
- Partner with investment, advisory, compliance, and operations teams.
- Participate in client meetings, family meetings, new client onboarding, and business development.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of estate planning and tax experience with ultra-high-net-worth clients.
- JD required; active bar membership in good standing.
- CPA and/or LLM in Taxation preferred.
- Background in a family office, multi-family office, private client law firm, or Big Four wealth practice preferred.
- Proven experience managing or mentoring professionals.
- Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to simplify complex tax and estate planning concepts for clients and multi-generational families.
- Comfortable operating in a highly collaborative, client-focused environment.
