Position Summary
A healthcare clinic in Gillette, Wyoming, is seeking a qualified Hyperbaric Technologist to join a specialized medical team operating both multiplace and monoplace hyperbaric chambers. The technologist will be responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of these chambers while ensuring optimal patient care during Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This role involves collaboration with medical professionals in treating various conditions, including wound healing, decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, and more. The technologist will also have opportunities to assist research staff with clinical trials involving HBOT.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Chamber Operation & Monitoring

Safe Operation of Chambers: Manage multiplace & monoplace hyperbaric chambers, adjusting pressure and oxygen levels according to treatment protocols.

Monitor HBOT Sessions: Operate compressors, oxygen supply systems, & control consoles, ensuring all settings comply with prescribed treatment plans.

Patient Monitoring: Supervise patients during treatment, either directly (multiplace chambers) or via external monitoring systems (monoplace chambers).

Emergency Response: Be prepared to manage medical or technical emergencies, including performing Basic Life Support (BLS) if necessary.
Patient Care & Support

Pre-Treatment Preparation: Educate patients about HBOT procedures, addressing concerns and reviewing medical histories for contraindications.

Patient Assistance: Assist patients in entering and exiting hyperbaric chambers, ensuring proper safety measures.

Communication: Maintain patient reassurance and communication via intercom systems or direct interaction.
Chamber Maintenance & Safety

Equipment Maintenance: Conduct daily inspections and cleaning of chambers, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety standards from UHMS, FDA, and local health authorities.

Record Keeping: Maintain logs of chamber maintenance, patient treatment sessions, and safety checks.
Administrative & Collaborative Duties

Documentation: Record detailed treatment notes, patient responses, and any necessary adjustments made during therapy.

Team Collaboration: Work with physicians, nurses, and wound care specialists to coordinate patient treatment plans.

Scheduling & Coordination: Assist with patient scheduling and educate families on the benefits, risks, and aftercare associated with HBOT.
Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certifications:
- Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS) required.
- Valid vocational medical certification/license (EMT, LPN, RN, RT, etc.).
- Current CPR/BLS certification required.

ACLS certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a patient care environment.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a hyperbaric technician using FDA-approved Hyperbaric Oxygen chambers.
- Familiarity with HBOT indications such as wound care, decompression illness, and carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Experience with medical equipment troubleshooting.
