Special Education Paraprofessional – School-Based Program

A respected school-based special education program in the Hershey area is hiring Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with autism in a structured, team-oriented classroom environment.

This role is ideal for individuals with experience as paraprofessionals, classroom aides, behavior technicians (BHT/RBT), or direct support professionals who are seeking a stable, meaningful position within a school setting. You’ll work closely with teachers, behavior specialists, and support staff to help students build communication, social, and daily living skills throughout the school day.


What You’ll Do

  • Support students in classroom and school-based settings using positive, evidence-informed strategies
  • Assist with individualized education plans (IEPs) and student support goals
  • Help students develop communication, social, and daily living skills
  • Collect basic data and complete required documentation
  • Support daily routines including transitions, self-care, and aquatic activities when applicable
  • Build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and team members
  • Participate in ongoing coaching, training, and supervision
  • Follow approved safety, crisis prevention, and intervention protocols as needed


What We’re Looking For


Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, behavioral health, or human services setting
  • Willingness to complete crisis intervention training


Preferred (not required):

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology, or a related field
  • Experience as a paraprofessional, classroom aide, BHT, RBT, or direct support professional
  • Experience supporting students with autism or developmental needs
  • Familiarity with positive behavior support or ABA-informed strategies
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification


Schedule & Work Environment

  • Year-round opportunity with full-time and part-time options
  • Monday–Friday schedule aligned with the academic calendar
  • Additional paid training hours during scheduled school breaks
  • Active role requiring physical engagement (standing, kneeling, lifting, running)
  • Use of protective equipment and limited local travel may be required
