Special Education Supervisor



Summary

Career Connections Recruiting is partnered with a leading autism-focused educational organization operating as both an Approved Private School (APS) and a Licensed Private Academic School (LPAS). We’re seeking a Special Education Supervisor to manage and supervise the Teacher Department and collaborate closely with School and EIBS leadership (e.g., Director of Related Services, Director of Special Education, Behavior Supports Supervisor). This role ensures that educational services are high-quality, fiscally sound, compliant, and supported by a high-performing culture.

What You’ll Do


Department Leadership & Operations

  • Own Teacher Department outcomes, staffing, professional development, project planning, incident management, and quality management.
  • Set performance targets, interpret key success indicators, monitor trends, reduce incident/risk frequency, and drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Prepare and manage the Teacher Department budget; monitor spend, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.


People Management & Performance

  • Develop performance metrics and rubrics; conduct scheduled evaluations and implement performance management practices that elevate individuals and teams.
  • Identify and address performance gaps, disciplinary issues, and training needs.
  • Provide leadership and support for teachers and classroom staff; mentor Special Education Teachers in partnership with the Director of Special Education and Executive Director of Educational Services.


Training, Evaluation & Compliance

  • Partner with Training and Quality teams to design, deliver, and refine training aligned to regulatory requirements and learning-environment needs.
  • Actively monitor content for alignment to best practices; keep staff updated on research and evidence-based approaches.
  • Track, monitor, and report on employee training records (remediation, annual requirements, induction, ongoing training) in collaboration with the Director of Special Education.
  • Deliver training, assess effectiveness at multiple levels, and adjust based on data; synthesize training results for leadership and staff.


Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

  • Represent the organization at internal and interagency meetings; maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians and school districts.
  • Seek staff input, offer guidance, and respond to concerns related to special education, classroom leadership/management, procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead needs assessments to diagnose challenges, set goals, and connect teachers with resources to support problem-solving.


Other

  • Complete additional duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibility

Direct supervision of the Special Education Teacher role.


Physical Demands

  • Frequent sitting, walking, standing, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting, stooping, and crawling for extended periods may be required.
  • May need to physically assist students during interventions to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly, follow detailed instructions, and travel between locations as needed.
  • Primarily indoor work; assignments may vary.


Expected Schedule

  • Full-time (minimum 40 hours/week), Monday–Friday per the EIBS calendar as agreed with management.
  • Ability to be reachable during off-hours when necessary.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Special Education (required).
  • Active PA Instructional II Certification (required).
  • Valid Administrative Special Education Supervisory Certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (required).
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience in a public or private educational institution (required).
  • Successful completion of Crisis Intervention curriculum (required).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications (required).
  • Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Working knowledge of special education school law (preferred).
  • Service-oriented mindset; ability to work efficiently with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong leadership, organization, and time-management skills; able to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Positive problem-solver who creates actionable plans; flexible, tactful, patient, and courteous.
