Classroom Technician

Location: Elizabethtown, PA


Position Overview

The Classroom Technician supports the educational and behavioral programs of students within an autism support environment at Elizabethtown Middle School. Under the direction of the Interim Training Support, Special Education Teacher, Behavior Consultant, or assigned designee, the Classroom Technician implements individualized student plans, assists with classroom instruction, and fosters a positive, collaborative atmosphere for students and colleagues.


This full-time position includes fully paid breaks, snow days, Fridays off during the summer, comprehensive benefits, and additional paid time off.


Essential Functions

  • Implement all assigned student programs and behavior plans with fidelity across all environments.
  • Accurately complete required documentation related to in-school services, data collection, and student progress.
  • Support students with Activities of Daily Living (e.g., self-care routines, feeding, and physical education activities).
  • Collect and enter data related to student behavior, IEP goals, and prescribed programming.
  • Prepare instructional materials and provide academic support under the guidance of the Teacher and/or Behavior Consultant.
  • Collaborate and coach team members in a supportive, professional manner; receive and apply feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain positive, professional interactions with staff, students, and internal/external partners.
  • Assist with student supervision during arrival, dismissal, recess, and other school activities.
  • Provide substitute coverage in other classrooms as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to perform physical activities including sitting, walking, standing, running, reaching, lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling, often for extended periods. The role may involve physical interventions to maintain a safe learning environment.

Candidates must be able to learn new tasks quickly, follow detailed instructions, and travel between locations when necessary.


Expected Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, following the program calendar. This is a year round position with paid break weeks throughout the year.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Human Services or Education required
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required
  • Successful completion and renewal of emergency prevention and intervention training required
  • Completion of all Pennsylvania Department of Education required trainings


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Prior experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
  • Demonstrated flexibility, patience, professionalism, and teamwork skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities
