Paraprofessional – Support Special Education Students


Location: Muhlenberg School District – Various Schools

Job Type: Full-Time | Support Staff (Non-Exempt)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, School Hours

Muhlenberg School District is looking for a dedicated Paraprofessional to assist teachers and special education students in the classroom and beyond.

What You’ll Do

  • Work one-on-one or with small groups of students to provide academic support.
  • Help students stay engaged by assisting with assignments, organization, and focus.
  • Encourage independence and reinforce social skills.
  • Modify activities and assignments to fit student needs.
  • Supervise and support students in classrooms, lunch, recess, and field trips.
  • Monitor student progress and assist in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Help maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Assist teachers with clerical tasks, classroom prep, and materials.


What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Associate’s degree, at least 48 college credits, or a high school diploma with a passing local assessment test.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with children is a plus but not required.
  • Certifications (or willingness to obtain):
  • First Aid & CPR (within 60 days of hire)
  • PDE State-Approved Crisis Intervention Restraint Training (annually)
  • 20+ hours of ongoing paraprofessional training each year
  • Must pass required background checks & clearances: PA State Police Criminal History, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance, and more (as required by PA law).
