Role Overview 

 

The Senior Associate position is a multi-dimensional leadership role. Your experience will ensure exceptional client service and quality standards while mentoring team members and promoting best practices. In this forward-thinking role, you will also help identify growth opportunities and introduce innovative approaches to client solutions.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

ACCOUNTING 

  • Performing and managing SSARS 21 compilation and review engagements. 
  • Staying updated on accounting standards, methodologies, and industry trends. 
  • Preparing or reviewing financial statements, notes, schedules, and management letters. 
  • Identifying problems and making relevant recommendations to clients to improve the quality of their financial reporting and to reduce their closing turnaround time. 
  • Provide guidance and instruction to clients for maintaining their accounting records in accordance with GAAP, FAR, and CAS  
  • Recognizing revenue in accordance with ASC606 
  • Evaluating and amortizing lease agreements in accordance with ASC842 

 

CONTROLLER/CFO 

  • Providing outsourced controller or CFO services to our clients 
  • Providing financial planning and advisory (FP&A) services, including forecasts, budgets, and KPIs 
  • Analyzing cashflow, profitability, and other metrics 
  • Drafting complete management and other summary financial reports for review by principal. 
  • Identifying key business issues, analyzing the effects of actions and consequences on the client’s strategic plans 
  • Conducting conference calls and video meetings with clients to review strategy, financial results, and operational challenges. 

 

TEAM LEAD 

  • Quickly identifying and addressing engagement issues, ensuring smooth progress and on-time delivery 
  • Monitoring, and on occasion, preparing budgets for engagements 
  • Eliciting client feedback and sharing with principal & staff 
  • Effectively working through roadblocks and barriers to get results 
  • Leading and developing team members, providing guidance and reviewing their work 
  • Proactively identifying and solving technical issues, including complex reconciliations 
  • Willingly incorporating new processes, procedures, or technology into daily routines 
  • Assisting with interviews, onboarding new staff, and providing performance feedback 

 

CONSULTING 

  • Providing innovative accounting and consulting solutions to small businesses 
  • Troubleshooting, training and advising clients using QuickBooks, PROCAS, or other systems 
  • Researching and responding to client questions regarding government contract compliance. Alerting clients to changes in regulations 
  • Preparing incurred cost submissions, contract briefs, and provisional billing rates. 

 

CLIENT SERVICE 

  • Effectively managing multiple client engagements at once 
  • Developing an understanding and knowledge of the firm’s client service approach, professional requirements and lines of business. 
  • Developing an understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations, Cost Accounting Standards and DCAA compliance 
  • Continuing to develop long-term professional relationships with clients through an exceptional understanding of their business and their goals.  

 

This position is PART-TIME| W-2 Employee | Monday - Friday |30 hours per week.   

Flexible between 7 AM - 6 PM EST.  

$36.00 - $46.00 per hour

Critical Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree + in accounting, finance, or related business field 
  • 30 credits in accounting  
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience, including job cost accounting.  Clients under $50M preferred.  
  • 4+ years in a senior role supervising other team members  
  • CPA: certification strongly preferred 
  • Expertise in GovCon Compliance: Experience working with government contractors, including deep knowledge of federal contracts, total time reporting, FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance requirements. 
  • Solid GAAP Knowledge: Working use of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) including SSARS 21, ASC 606, and ASC 842 
  • Proficiency in Audit Software: Must demonstrate ability to navigate audit software, and any other software deemed necessary to provide workpapers, working trial balances, and related spreadsheets to support engagements 
  • Tax: General knowledge of US federal and state tax laws  
  • Expertise in Business Accounting Systems: Proficiency in systems like QuickBooks or PROCAS highly preferred. 
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Must be able to leverage Excel for complex analyses and financial modeling. 
  • Proven Remote Working Skills: Must have demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and maintain productivity in a fully remote setting.
