Senior Programme Director, Platform Implementation

Thames Valley / M4 corridor, UK | Hybrid, 1 to 2 days a week in the office | Permanent | £150,000 to £180,000 base plus 20% bonus

You have moved customers off a legacy system and onto a new platform, as the vendor or the implementation partner, and you know that the plan is the easy part. Data, integrations, cutover weekends and nervous customers are where programmes are won or lost. You are looking for a role where you write the rules for how implementation works, not just follow someone else’s.

We are working on behalf of a global, PE-backed enterprise software business in travel and logistics technology. It is building a new open, modular, cloud-native platform to replace a long-established legacy product, and it takes customers far beyond what they can do today. Customers like what they see. They are also cautious buyers who want to watch a peer go live before they commit, so the first implementations have to set a new standard.

What you will own

The implementation framework. You will build it from a blank sheet: the playbooks, readiness gates and governance that move delivery from reactive to proactive.

The first go-lives. You will run it for real, end to end, on existing customers migrating off the legacy product and on new customers going live. That means mobilisation, data, integrations, testing, cutover and stabilisation, using both Big Bang and phased rollouts.

A platform still being built. You will work with Product and Engineering so the platform is designed to be implemented, not handed over at the end.

The future delivery team. This is the one dedicated programme lead for the platform, not one seat in a large PMO, and it is likely to come with a team. You will shape its structure, roles and ways of working.

Alongside that, you will:

  • Run integrated programmes across product, engineering, architecture, data, operations, customer and change
  • Build relationships with system integrators so partners can implement alongside the business
  • Shape delivery approaches, estimates, timelines and statements of work in pre-sales
  • Use AI to make delivery faster and sharper, from reporting to less manual documentation

You will report to the VP Professional Services and work closely with senior product, product operations and technology leaders. Engineering sits mainly in India, and some Americas time zone cover is part of the job.

What we are looking for

You ideally have more than ten years in technology delivery and have grown up through it, from business analysis, project management, product or engineering into programme or delivery leadership.

Most importantly, you have led at least one complex, end-to-end migration from a legacy system to a new platform or ERP for external customers, as the software vendor or implementation partner, at global, multi-customer scale.

You have built or rebuilt a delivery methodology that other people now run. You have led teams across countries and cultures, including India, and you build teams where bad news travels fast and nobody waits to escalate. You are technical enough to challenge engineers and architects on APIs, integrations and third-party data, and you hold your own with a customer’s leadership team. You can point to times you pushed back under pressure and followed through.

PMP, PgMP or an equivalent programme management certification is expected.

Nice to have

  • You have built or led an implementation or professional services organisation in an enterprise software business
  • Travel, transport or logistics technology experience. This is a bonus, not a requirement. The client would rather hire a strong migration leader with a fresh eye than a domain specialist who has never run a cutover
  • Start-up or scale-up experience, or time in a gritty environment where you built things with limited support
  • Experience bringing system integrators in to deliver alongside you
  • Practical use of AI in your own delivery work
  • A consulting background is welcome, as long as you have delivered for clients yourself

This probably is not for you if

  • Your migration experience is internal IT, network, data centre or cloud infrastructure only
  • You have only implemented as the customer, rather than for customers
  • You would rather run a mature product than one still being built
  • You need a large PMO around you to deliver

Why this role is worth your time

This is a blank sheet inside a business with real scale: a global customer base, thousands of people, and patient, long-term private equity backing rather than a short-term VC clock.

You will not be one of many programme managers. You will be the person who decides how this platform is implemented, then proves it with the first customers. Those go-lives are what the market will judge the platform on, so your work feeds straight into growth.

UK based, hybrid, one to two days a week in the office. £150,000 to £180,000 base plus a 20% bonus.

If you meet most of this but not every line, we would still like to hear from you.
