Senior Frontend Developer
For more than 70 years Winmau has been obsessed with excellence in darts—hand-crafted boards, military-grade tungsten, and the champions who throw them. That same precision now belongs online. As Senior Frontend Developer you will own the digital face of the world’s largest premium dartboard maker, turning heritage and innovation into fast, beautiful experiences for millions of players and federations in 70+ countries.
What you will achieve
- Launch a rebuilt winmau.com that loads in under 2 seconds on mobile, meets WCAG 2.2 AA, and lifts conversion by at least 15% within 12 months.
- Ship a product configurator for custom tungsten darts that players actually use, reducing support tickets and increasing average order value.
- Deliver campaign landing pages for World Champions and grassroots programmes that go live within 48 hours of brief, without sacrificing quality.
- Establish a reusable component library and performance budget so every new page stays fast as the catalogue grows.
- Partner with marketing and factory teams so product stories, specs and live tournament moments appear online the same week they happen.
- Mentor one mid-level developer so the frontend team can own releases without you in the room.
Environment & resources
You report to the Head of Digital and sit with a small, senior marketing and e-commerce team. Stack is modern (React/Next or equivalent—your recommendation welcome), with design support, a modest but real budget for tools and contractors, and direct access to product and factory leadership in our purpose-built UK facility. Global audience, lean decision-making.
Essential qualifications
- 5+ years shipping production frontend that real customers use, including at least one high-traffic e-commerce or content site you can point to.
- Proven ability to hit measurable outcomes: speed, conversion, accessibility—not just “clean code.”
- Expert in modern JavaScript, CSS, and a component framework; comfortable owning architecture and performance.
- Experience translating brand and product nuance (craft, heritage, sport) into interfaces that feel premium, not generic.
- Clear communicator who can work with non-technical stakeholders and still ship on time.
Why this role
- Your work sits on the same boards used by Michael van Gerwen and federations worldwide—not another faceless retailer.
- 70-year maker culture: decisions are close to the factory floor, not buried in layers.
- Room to set the technical standard for a global brand that is still early in its digital journey.
- Genuine mix of e-commerce, storytelling and live sport—not just another shop.
