Position Summary
The Director of Business Development and Operations is responsible for growing the business and managing the operational performance needed to support that growth. This position reports directly to the President and CEO and will work across business development, recruiting, project delivery, and operations.
The position will develop new client relationships, expand existing accounts, build internal processes, establish operational KPIs, and help ensure projects are staffed, delivered, and managed profitably. In partnership with the Head of People, this leader will help define the organizational structure, identify future talent needs, develop job descriptions, and build a proactive recruiting strategy that supports Krieger Scientific's long term growth.
Responsibilities
· Develop and execute the company's business development strategy.
· Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries.
· Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients.
· Expand existing accounts across Krieger Scientific's service offerings.
· Develop proposals, pricing, presentations, and contract terms.
· Maintain accurate revenue forecasts and provide regular updates to the CEO.
· Work with the Head of People to forecast hiring needs and align talent with client demand.
· Partner with the Head of People to identify current and future hiring needs based on the company's strategic growth plans.
· Work with the Head of People to develop and refine job descriptions that accurately define each role, its responsibilities, and the experience required for success.
· Identify target companies, competitors, and key industry professionals that represent ideal recruiting targets for each position.
· Participate in candidate interviews and hiring decisions to ensure each hire possesses the technical expertise, leadership ability, and cultural fit needed to strengthen the organization.
· Help build a proactive talent strategy by identifying future organizational needs before they become immediate hiring requirements.
· Partner with the Head of People to continuously evaluate organizational structure, succession planning, and leadership needs as the company grows.
· Oversee operational performance across active projects and client engagements.
· Establish, track, and report operational KPIs.
· Monitor project staffing, utilization, timelines, profitability, and client satisfaction.
· Identify operational issues and put processes in place to address them.
· Build repeatable processes that support company growth.
· Improve communication and coordination across business development, recruiting, and project delivery.
· Develop strategic partnerships that support Krieger Scientific's growth.
· Represent Krieger Scientific at client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
· Provide the CEO with recommendations related to growth, operations, staffing, and client delivery.
Operational KPIs
The Director of Business Development and Operations will be responsible for developing and managing KPIs that may include:

Qualifications
· Experience in business development within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or life sciences services industry.
· Experience managing operations within a consulting, engineering, technical services, or project based organization.
· Experience selling consulting or technical services.
· Knowledge of the life sciences consulting market and its major service providers.
· Existing relationships within the life sciences industry.
· Understanding of CQV, engineering services, quality and compliance, calibration, asset management, relocation services, technical staffing, or related services.
· Experience developing proposals, pricing services, negotiating contracts, and managing client relationships.
· Experience establishing and managing operational KPIs.
· Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and develop high performing teams.
· Experience identifying organizational talent needs and partnering in the hiring process.
· Ability to clearly define role requirements and identify the technical and leadership competencies required for success.
· Strong understanding of the competitive life sciences talent market.
· Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
· Ability to work directly with the CEO and across all areas of a growing company.
· Ability to travel as needed.
