Who You Will Work With
This role reports directly to a senior technology executive with over two decades of experience building and scaling payment systems at leading global organizations. This leader has held senior roles across subscription billing platforms, financial services, and large scale commerce environments. Their expertise spans payment authorization, recovery optimization, card network compliance, and reducing revenue loss from failed transactions. They are known for being direct, transparent, and highly respected within the payments ecosystem. This is an opportunity to work closely with an experienced operator who has built and scaled complex payment infrastructure.
The Opportunity
The company is hiring a Payments Product Manager to own the end to end product strategy and execution for its payments infrastructure. This role exists due to continued growth and increasing complexity within the payments function. You will work closely with engineering, customer success, and external payment partners to define requirements, drive integrations, and ensure the platform remains competitive in a rapidly evolving payments landscape.
What You Will Do
Own the payments product roadmap and align it with business priorities
Write detailed and complete requirements for payment gateway integrations including acceptance criteria, test cases, and release plans
Partner with engineering to ensure integrations are built to standard and launched successfully
Support gateway onboarding and go live processes to drive merchant adoption and retention
Serve as the internal subject matter expert on payments including card network mandates, tokenization, alternative payment methods, and emerging areas such as digital assets
Work cross functionally with customer success, sales, and leadership to communicate roadmap priorities and resolve payment related issues
Identify gaps in current payment flows and build solutions that reduce involuntary churn, improve authorization rates, and protect revenue
What We Are Looking For
Five or more years of product management experience with a focus on payments, subscription billing, or fintech
Deep knowledge of the payments stack including gateways, processors, acquirers, and card networks
Demonstrated experience writing technical requirements for payment integrations
Strong understanding of card network mandates, tokenization, chargebacks, dispute workflows, and fraud prevention
Ability to communicate complex payment concepts clearly to both technical and non technical stakeholders
Experience working within a subscription or recurring billing environment
Technical background in solutions architecture, APIs, or software engineering is a plus
