What You’ll Do:

Relate Search has partnered with a leading medical technology organization in their search for a Lead Linux Engineer to support the development of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) solutions. This role is instrumental in building safe, compliant, and AI‑enabled surgical planning and navigation software used directly in patient care. You will serve as a hands‑on technical leader, driving architecture, systems development, and cross‑functional collaboration across global engineering, clinical, and quality teams.


Responsibilities:

• Architect, design, and implement Linux‑based medical device software in alignment with IEC 62304 requirements.

• Lead technical design communication across cross‑functional teams, ensuring clarity for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

• Guide AGILE/SCRUM activities, contributing to task definition, reviews, and overall product direction.

• Serve as technical lead for safety‑critical systems, overseeing development activities including code reviews.

• Collaborate to integrate advanced AI algorithms and support CI/CD pipeline development within cloud‑based environments.


Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of Linux application and system‑level development experience using C/C++.

• Demonstrated ability to architect and document complex software systems.

• At least 3 years developing software in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.

• Direct experience applying IEC 62304 in medical software development.

• Strong understanding of stand‑alone medical software requirements (SaMD) and cloud‑based deployment environments.


Required Skills:

• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform services for deployment, storage, and CI/CD.

• Ability to implement cybersecurity controls within the software lifecycle.

• Experience mentoring developers and establishing best‑practice engineering standards.

• Skilled in troubleshooting software, OS, and hardware integration issues.

• Ability to interact with customers and clinical users; may include participation in lab environments.
