Engineering Manager – HVAC Design

📍 Location: Indiana (with travel to Florida)

💰 Compensation: $120,000–$140,000 base + up to 15% annual performance bonus

About the Role

We’re looking for a technical leader and mentor for an

HVAC and energy services group in the Indianapolis area.  This position would lead the Support Engineering team — a group responsible for HVAC system design, equipment selection, and operational coordination. This team supports Engineers designing commercial HVAC projects across Indiana, Florida, Ohio, and beyond. You’ll play a crucial role in developing the engineering team’s technical skillsets and ensuring project accuracy, while also overseeing all back-end technical activities — from take-offs to shipping coordination. 

What You’ll Do

• 👨‍💼 Lead and manage a team of 5–6 Support Engineers located in Indiana and Florida

• 🧠 Oversee and guide HVAC system design, take-offs, and equipment selection

• 🔄 Coordinate with Sales Engineers and the Operations Manager to support job wins and delivery

• 📦 Manage technical and logistical details including purchase orders, shipping, and manufacturer coordination

• 📈 Implement technical training and career development initiatives for engineering staff

• 🌎 Travel between Indiana and Florida offices 1–2 times per quarter

• 🎯 Ensure engineering output aligns with customer expectations and company goals

What We’re Looking For

• ✅ Solid understanding of HVAC equipment and system design (commercial)

• ✅ 8-10 years of experience with an equipment manufacturer, engineering firm, or contractor

• ✅ Experience with take-offs and equipment selection processes

• ✅ Previous engineering team leadership or management experience

• ✅ Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

• ✅ Ability to travel quarterly and work on-site with some flexibility

• ✅ Engineering degree or equivalent work experience
