Building Automation Specialist

Location: Washington, D.C.

Compensation: $90,000 – $120,000

Are you a building automation specialist who enjoys the technical side of the work but is ready to step away from the constant demands of the contractor environment? This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking energy consulting organization where you will be embedded on-site at a single campus, allowing you to develop a deep understanding of the facility and make a meaningful, lasting impact. Rather than treating building automation as an afterthought, this team places BAS at the center of their approach, fully integrating it into every aspect of their projects and operations.

Operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of the performance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of building systems across your assigned facilities

Work in an environment where building automation is truly valued, giving you the exposure and support needed to expand your technical capabilities

Opportunity for an atypical growth path within this integrated design-build firm, where your skill set can expand beyond traditional building automation

Ideal position for someone who takes pride in their craft, enjoys problem-solving, and is motivated by seeing the tangible results of their work in a well-run, high-performing campus

What we are looking for:

3+ years of experience with HVAC control systems, including installation and/or service, point-to-point checkout, troubleshooting, and programming

Diverse controls system experience, including both proprietary systems and Niagara N4 integration, is highly valued

Strong technical knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment including AHUs, VAVs, boilers, chillers, and related systems

Mechanical aptitude and controls knowledge, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics

Experience with BACnet, Modbus, and/or LonWorks communication protocols

A polished professional who is passionate about building automation technology and committed to continuously improving their skillset

A motivated team player with a customer-focused mindset who can collaborate effectively in a campus environment

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Windows environments, file structures, AutoCAD, Visio, and a basic understanding of TCP/IP networks and web-based systems

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience as a well-trained building automation specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding role within a highly respected design-build organization. We are looking for a career-minded professional who is eager to make an impact, take ownership, and continue growing within an organization that values technical excellence. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits.
