Our client is a visionary construction company focused on transforming Sydney’s commercial and residential properties and spaces.


We are seeking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to be a part of our Senior Leadership Team, spearheading and overseeing the commercial facets of the business, maximising profitability, and streamlining contract administration.


You will have established yourself as key player in ensuring timely project delivery and legal compliance as well as implementing robust risk mitigation strategies.

As the Commercial Manager, you will be able to ensure that all construction contracts are legally sound, clear, and aligned with the objectives and risks of the project and assist all project teams in managing head commercial and legal matters and risks.

 

Responsibilities and Experience will also include:


  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve business objectives, revenue targets, and profitability KPI’s;
  • Negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners to ensure favourable terms and conditions.
  • Oversee the full procurement process for all projects, ensuring that delivery teams are meeting procurement programme, budget, compliance and workflow expectations;
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks associated with contracts, disputes, project execution, and market dynamics;
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify potential threats and opportunities;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of commercial initiatives;
  • Provide commercial leadership and guidance to the project teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability;
  • Work with the project teams to identify, negotiate, and facilitate strategies concerning contract variations including those in dispute;
  • Coordinate, manage and drive the month-end project financial forecasting reports practices, quality of the reports, including month end roll coordination with our Finance team;
  • Analyse financial data, prepare reports for project profitability and performance, and support decision making;
  • Oversee project teams conformance to SOPA requirements, including the coordination and formulation of formal responses to adjudication applications if applicable;
  • Participate in the tendering and bidding process, including preparation of bids, evaluation of proposals, selecting subcontractors and suppliers, establishing commercial positions, and negotiating tenders;
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant construction laws, regulations, and industry standards;
  • Represent and lead the business, relating to all commercial and legal matters, coordinating with our External Legal Team as applicable to efficiently close out risks;
  • Promote and improve business management systems, adhering to financial protocols and training staff;
  • Build strong relationships with clients and relevant stakeholders, address concerns, and seek opportunities for additional projects or services;
