The Role


The AS400 Analyst Programmer will support and enhance core IBM i systems while ensuring the stability and accuracy of daily operations. This role involves both collaborative and independent work, contributing to system design, development, testing, and documentation. Based in the United States, with preference for candidates in Philadelphia, the individual will ensure smooth AS/400 operations, develop and maintain RPG-based solutions, and participate actively in cross-functional technical initiatives.


Responsibilities


  • Oversee AS/400 operational tasks, including backups, DR, schedulers, and maintenance.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document solutions using RPG and related technologies.
  • Develop system enhancements in collaboration with end users.
  • Follow established processes, procedures, and change management practices.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure secure, high-quality implementations.
  • Conduct automated and manual testing to ensure software accuracy.
  • Review and approve colleague changes and coordinate production deployments.
  • Manage support tickets with adherence to SLAs.
  • Document new and existing systems thoroughly.


Requirements


  • 15+ years of experience with IBM i (iSeries, AS/400), DB2, and RPG/RPGILE.
  • Strong understanding of Order Entry, Inventory, and Distribution systems and associated integrations.
  • Proficient in SQL programming and analysis.
  • Solid grasp of change management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
