Senior Unity Developer | VR Gaming | .NET / C# / C++ | 100% Remote (USA) | $130,000 - $150,000 USD + Benefits

The Company

They operate at the intersection of advanced simulation, gaming technology, and real-world training systems. Built by a team with backgrounds spanning military operations and AAA game development, they focus on delivering highly realistic, high-performance simulation environments used in critical training scenarios.

Their work supports defence and allied organisations globally, with significant investment backing and long-term contracts already in place. The business is scaling quickly, driven by demand for more sophisticated and immersive training capabilities.

The Role

They are looking for a senior-level software engineer with deep expertise in Unity to help architect and build a new generation of simulation products from the ground up. This is not a maintenance role — it’s a foundational build, where engineering decisions made early will shape the entire product ecosystem.

The successful candidate will act as a key technical contributor, balancing hands-on development with strategic input into tooling, architecture, and long-term technical direction. It’s a role for someone who can operate in ambiguity, build structure where none exists, and take ownership of complex systems.

The Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of core systems and features for simulation platforms
  • Establish and evolve the technical foundation for new products
  • Contribute to and influence long-term technology strategy and architecture decisions
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, design, and engineering
  • Mentor and support other engineers, helping raise the overall technical standard
  • Provide realistic timelines and technical estimates for deliverables
  • Identify potential technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies
  • Evaluate and select appropriate tools, frameworks, and technologies to support development

The Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in software development within console or PC gaming environments
  • Strong expertise in Unity development
  • Proven experience building or maintaining development frameworks and environments
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and software architecture
  • Proficiency in C++ and C#
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with high-level direction and limited structure

Highly Valued:

  • Experience working on AAA game titles
  • Exposure to simulation or defence-related software
  • Experience with virtual reality (VR) development

The Remuneration

  • Competitive salary aligned with senior engineering market benchmarks
  • Opportunity to work on high-impact, mission-critical technology
  • Access to cutting-edge tools and large-scale, well-funded projects
  • Career progression within a fast-growing and technically ambitious environment
  • Collaborative culture with experienced engineers and domain specialists

For engineers who want to move beyond incremental feature work and instead build something that actually matters, this is that opportunity. If you’re comfortable owning systems, solving complex problems, and working at the intersection of gaming technology and real-world application, you should seriously consider applying.
